Give Thanks Banner Assembly Tutorial

Silhouette Design Store Give Thanks Banner - Furrow and Feather

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing with you how to assemble the Give Thanks banner project found in the Silhouette Design Store. It’s a simple project that you can add as much or as little personalization to. Let’s get started.

You’ll need my ‘Give Thanks banner’, ‘turkey’, and ‘feathers’ cut files found in the Silhouette Design Store (find my portfolio here). You’ll need 3 colors of cardstock, of your choice. I used a basic textured cardstock, about 65 lb. Also adhesive or glue.

1. First lets assemble the top banner. Take the letter and place adhesive on the underside of the letter.
2. Line up the letter with the middle of the banner piece and stick down, making sure the top of the banner piece & the top of the letter are parallel to each other. Repeat steps 1 & 2 for all of the letter pieces. Make sure they’re lined up similarly on each banner piece.
3. Grab your turkey cut out. Place adhesive on the underside of the piece.
4. Center your turkey piece inside of the last banner piece. Press down to adhere.
5. Now we’re going to paint our turkey feathers. Get your acrylic paint & brush ready.
6. Start by painting the tip of the feather. Paint a wide band of white that goes all the way to the end.
7. Paint horizontal lines across the feather. Repeat the painting process with all of your feathers. I had cut out 14.
8. Now that all of our pieces are ready, it’s time to assemble the banner. Measure out your twine on your wall, to see how large you want your banner to be. Cut. Start threading the twine through the precut holes on the banner piece. I like to in through the first hole and out through the second, so the twine is behind the majority of the banner piece.
9. Continue assembling the banner with the turkey banner piece in-between give & thanks.
10. Time to assemble the turkey feather banner. Take your twine and measure it out again. I wanted the feather banner to hang below the give thanks banner, so I make this twine longer. Hang the twine where you want your banner to be when finished, I found this was easier to attach the feathers. I used a small piece of washi tape on the back of each feather to attach it to the twine. Space your feathers out as evenly as you can. and you’re done!

I have purchased and tried to open the Give Thanks Banner and it has said the file is not compatible/unable to open. The turkey and leaves open just fine. I chatted with Silhouette folks and they told me to contact you as that portion of the design was yours and the other two are theirs. They had difficulty with it at there end too. They said they could refund me but I would rather be able to make the banner 🙂 Thanks for any help.
